Sep 15, 2024 at 07:00 — 13:00 (BST)
Organiser: The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health

The 2024 Cawsand swim will take place on Sunday 16th July with a swim time of around 9am

Registration will take place from 07.30 until 08.30 next to the beach at Cawsand Bay where you’ll be checked in by our team of volunteers and given your swim cap. (these are to be worn throughout the swim.)

At approximately 08.45 the water safety briefing will take place with an outline of the course and any update on the sea conditions.

At 09.00 the tide will be mid-tide on its way out.

There are two distances;  2km and 4km.

The 2km swim will see swimmers set off from the beach at Cawsand and swim along the Bay to Kingsand, to the Mermaid Buoy, to a 1km marker buoy and back inside the swim buoys.  The 4km swim will follow the same route but swim a further 1km along the coastline to Hooe Lake Point and back.

Registration for the Cawsand Swim is £30 for the 2km swim and £35 for the 4km swim . Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it’s the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families across Devon and Cornwall.  your registration includes; Water Safety Cover. Event swim cap.  Full lifeguard and medical support. An event medal and post swim refreshments

So we ask all our swimmers set themselves a fundraising goal of £80.

Just as a point of interest, and to help you set your own fundraising target:

£60 will pay for 3 PSA tests.
£120 will pay for 500 awareness leaflets.
£300 will pay towards promotion across the region of the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer.
£600 will pay for 10% of our nurses psychosexual counselling course.
£1,000 will go towards furnishing a treatment room in the Chestnut Unit.
£5,000 will go towards state-of-the-art kit to be used for the care of prostate, testicular or penile cancer patients.
