Scottish Grappling proudly presents the 3rd West of Scotland BJJ Open which will take place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell on 25th February The event will be contested under standard IBJJF rules. There will be a limited edition t-shirt free for the first 100 approved entries. We will once again be running both Gi and No-Gi divisions! Early entry price is £40 for one division and £50 for both gi and no-gi. . These prices run until 31st of December at midnight. Late Entry price is £50 for one division and £60 for both gi and no gi. These prices run until the close of entries at midnight on the 11th of February. The gi competition is open to all belt divisions. No gi divisions are by BJJ rank or time served. If you train at a Gi school then follow the BJJ Belt (taking into account the other restrictions mentioned e.g. no black belt judoka, pro mma fighters or national level wrestlers in white belt divisions), otherwise it's time served. The divisions are: - White belt (or less than 18 months experience, IBJJF white belt rules, 5 minute matches) Blue belt (or between more than 18 months and less than 36 months experience, IBJJF blue belt rules, 6 minute matches) Purple belt (or those who have grappled for more than 36 months but less than 60 months uses IBJJF , 7 minute matches) Brown Belt (or more than 5 years grappling experience but less than 8, IBJJF brown belt rules , 8 minute matches) Black Belt ( or more than 8 years grappling experience, IBJJF black belt rules, 10 minute matches) There will be Masters divisions for all competitors aged between 30 and 39 inclusive and a Seniors division for competitors who are aged 40 or over. All masters and seniors matches are 5 minutes long at white and blue and 6 at purple, brown and black belt. Weigh-ins for those doing both gi and no-gi divisions will take place in the morning , white belts and all female divisions will weigh-in between 8:30 and 9:30. Coloured belts will weigh-in between 9:45 qnd 10:45. We intend to start the first gi divisions at 9:45am. If you are doing both gi and no-gi you only need to make weight once providing you select matching divisions. If you select two different categories you will need to weigh in twice. Weigh-ins for those only doing the no-gi divisions will take place between 2pm and 2:45pm with the first no-gi divisions starting at 3pm. Weight Divisions are: - Adult, Masters & Seniors Gi Male -57.5kg -64,0 kg/ - 70,0 kg/ -76,0 kg/ -82,3 kg/ -88,3 kg/ -94,3 kg/ -100,5 kg/ + 100,5 kg Female < -48.5 kg/ -53.5kg/ u58.5kg/ u64kg / u69kg/ u73kg / u79.3kg/ 79.3kg+ No Gi Male -55.5kg,-61.5kg,-67.5kg,-73.5kg,-79.5kg,-86.5kg,-91.5kg, -97.5kg, 97.5kg+. Female -46.5kg, -51.5kg, -56.5kg, -61.5kg, -66.5kg, -71.5kg, -76.5kg, 76.5kg+. All divisions will be run on a single elimination basis. Competitors who medal in their weight division will be eligible to enter the openweight division for their belt and experience level. We are also offering a team trophy for the team which tops the team points standings. This event has a zero tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behavior by coaches, parents/guardians, spectators and competitors. All in attendance must show some restraint when their students or team mates are fighting. There will be competitors and spectators of all ages at this event and we are here to set an example. Any swearing, inappropriate gestures, violence (towards person or property) or berating the officials (regardless of any decisions they make) will not be tolerated. If this happens, the referee/organiser has the right to disqualify that competitor, or to ask the person concerned to leave the area. If those concerned do not comply with the referee/organisers request the competitor will be disqualified from the event. If a coach, parent or team mate encroaches onto the mat, or past any barriers that are in place, or man handles an official in any way, that person will be asked to leave the venue and the whole team may not be permitted to take any further part in the competition Respect Rule
