Come enjoy a magnificent musical journey through the Jewish Soul performed by Latin Grammy Winner Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Soprano Sivan Rotem and Pianist Sally Pinkas.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Cuarteto Latinoamericano, is one of the world's most renowned classical music ensembles, for more than thirty years the leading proponent of Latin American music for string quartet. Founded in Mexico in 1982, the Cuarteto has toured extensively throughout Europe, North and South America, Israel, China, Japan and New Zealand. They have premiered more than a hundred works written for them and they continue to introduce new and neglected composers to the genre. Winners of the 2012 and 2016 Latin Grammys for Best Classical Recordings, they have been recognized with the Mexican Music Critics Association Award and three times received Chamber Music America/ASCAP's "Most Adventurous Programming" Award.

Soprano Sivan Rotem sings in five continents and is one of Israel's most versatile artists. She started her musical training as a violinist with Prof. Valley Blutner and was the first violinist of "The Kibbutz Youth Symphony Orchestra". Rotem holds degrees in English and Literature from Haifa University and in voice from The Rubin Academy at Tel Aviv University under Prof. Mira Zakai. Sivan continued her vocal studies in the USA with Prof. Ellen Faull, Head of the Juilliard School of Music Voice Department. Sivan Rotem made her professional debut with Zubin Mehta and The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Die Zauberflöte and sang with all Israel's orchestras and with the Israeli Opera in various leading roles. Her American opera debut was as Violetta in La Traviata with Seattle Opera conducted by Gerard Schwarz which was immediately followed by Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Sally Pinkas is a pianist, born and raised in Israel. She is Professor of Music at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and pianist-in-residence of the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth. Pinkas moved to the United States as a teenager to study piano. She studied at Indiana University and the New England Conservatory of Music, and earned her Ph.D. in Composition and Theory from Brandeis University. She made her debut in London in 1983. She explores contemporary music as well as the traditional repertoire, including chamber music. She performs with her husband Evan Hirsch as the Hirsch-Pinkas Piano Duo. Pinkas has released a number of solo and duo recordings. Her recording of Fauré's Thirteen Nocturnes was named one of the 2002's best CDs by The Boston Globe.
