Soils Day with Mark Measures and Stroud Community Agriculture

Our soil is our greatest treasure and asset, there is always more to learn and share. A health soil grows healthy fruit and veg, supporting health for people.

10am - Mark Measures will talk about soil and soil health from many aspects out of his research and experience.

Bring your questions and soil analysis results with you to get the most from this session.

12.00 – Bring soil samples from your land in a plastic pot or bag for a Soil Observation activity with Gabriel Kaye of the Biodynamic Association and passionate gardener

Lunch – soup and bread

14.00 Farm walk and discussion around Stroud Community Agriculture fields and polytunnels.

About Mark Measures

Mark is an independent organic agriculture consultant specialising in advice and training in farm business management, soil management, husbandry and conversion planning. Working with the Organic Research Centre he headed the Organic Advisory Service for 15 years and the Institute of Organic Training and Advice for 10 years.

He provides policy advice to Government, technical advice to research and is joint editor of the biannual “Organic Farm Management Handbook”. He is a partner in a mixed farm in the Shropshire Hills. In 2018 he completed a Winston Churchill Fellowship studying soil analysis and management in the US and around Europe.
