Looe Island Swim
Sep 16, 2017 at 14:15 — 18:00 (BST)
Organiser: The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health
A chance to take part in the first Looe Island swim
The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Looe Valley, is initiating a new swim, from Looe Island to the town beach in East Looe on Saturday September 16th 2017 with a swim time around 2:15pm.
Looe Island (or St George's Island as it is officially known) is a nature reserve owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust (who have kindly given permission for this swim).
The distance to the beach in East Looe is around one mile, passing the harbour/river entrance and the banjo pier. The beach in East Looe is at the heart of the town.
Viewing of the event (for friends and family) will be possible from Hannafore or the sandy and gently sloping beach in East Looe. We believe the location of this swim and the facilities available in Looe provide a superb combination for swimmers and their supporters.
The Looe Island swim is suitable for those who can swim a mile in the pool and have experience of Open Water Swimming.
Safety is always a top priority and as with all the Chestnut Appeal swims the event will be supported by the team from Event Water Safety who will provide all the necessary craft and expert cover for the swim.
Registration for the swim is £30 which covers the cost of organising the event. And it is asked that all those who take part raise a minimum of £50 for the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer .
Your fundraising will help the Chestnut Appeal continue their work across the region.
Entry to the Looe Island Swim includes; full water safety support from Event Water Safety, an event swim cap, a participant's medal, water and an end of swim snack.
