St Michael's Mount Swim 2019

The Chestnut Appeal for Mens' Health annual one and a half mile (2.4km) swim around the spectacular St Michaels Mount was due to take place this weekend. Unfortunately the forecast weather or more precisely the sea conditions are not suitable to run the event safely .  A mix of big swell, surf and wind gusts of 30mph make for choppy seas.  We are unable to reschedule the St Michaels Mount swim and will transfer all those who have regsitered to the 2020 St Michaels Mount swim.

The St Michaels Mount swim starts on the beach at Marazion where swimmers will set off for the Mount over the causeway swimming through clear waters around the Mount before making a course back to the beach to cheers from friends and family and a welcome pasty.

The swim can be quite a challenge and it is asked that those who take part can complete the distance in a pool and have experience of Open Water Swimming.

The St Michaels Mount swim will be fully supported by the team from Event Water Safety.

Registration for the swim is £35. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it's the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families, so we ask all our St Michaels Mount Swimmers try to raise as much money through sponsorship as possible.

So if you fancy a new challenge and at the same time raise money to help men with prostate cancer in the region then why not register today.

Your £35 registration includes

  • Water Safety Cover
  • Event swim cap
  • Full lifeguard and medical support
  • An event medal
  • A delicious pasty at the finish

The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health is a charity that supports men with Prostate Cancer and their families across Devon and Cornwall.

St. Michaels Mount, home to the St. Aubyn family is managed by the National Trust and a beautiful place to visit. At low tide, it is possible to walk across the causeway to the mount.

Recent fundraising has meant that the Chestnut Appeal has been able to provide the Royal Cornwall Hospital with the very latest in equipment for faster diagnosis of prostate cancer; The MRI Fusion Scanner.  This is the second Scanner the charity has been able to purchase with the first at Derriford Hospital helping change the way men are being diagnosed.

The Chestnut Appeal will be celebrating 20 years in 2019 and our next campaign is to fund two research nurses.  The first soon to take post at Derriford and the other to be placed at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
