"Superwood" - how forestry and timber can drive a low carbon economy

Dec 14, 2018 at 10:00 — 16:00 (GMT)
Organiser: Confor

How can the North-east of England capitalise on post-Brexit opportunities by planting far more trees and building creatively with timber?

Despite the immense Kielder Forest, tree cover is just 8 per cent in Northumberlnd, lower than the rest of England, which is in turn well below the UK average.

How do we overcome the barriers to plant more trees in the region to underpin a cleaner, greener future - by using far more wood in construction and realising the enormous opportunities presented by the bio-economy?

This event aims to bring together the whole supply chain, from people planting forests to architects building with wood - to strengthen existing connections and create new ones to put forestry and timber at the heart of the low-carbon economy of the future.
