Breakwater swim The Plymouth Breakwater swim is a challenge set within the Historic Plymouth Sound. Setting off from the eastern end of the Breakwater, swimmers will complete the 2.2miles across the Sound before reaching land on the Beach next to the Art Deco Tinside Pool. The swim in 2016 will take place on Sunday 21st August will be the fifth annual Chestnut Appeal swim across Plymouth Sound. Swimmers will leave the Barbican by boat, be taken to the Breakwater, where they will enter the water and swim back to Tinside Beach on the Hoe. The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer raises funds to help men with prostate cancer and their families across Devon and Cornwall. Our aim is to; increase awareness, support specialist nurses and fund the latest treatments that are not available on the NHS.
