The 2018 Mayflower 400 Chestnut Cup promises to be the biggest and best Chestnut Appeal 6 a-side Football Tournament to date.

This year the charity has teamed up with the Argyle Community Trust to bring you a ‘World Cup’ themed event, with an overarching aim of raising awareness of Mayflower 400 sport within Plymouth.

David Squires from the Chestnut Appeal said “We are delighted to be working with the Argyle Community Trust on this year’s event. With the World Cup just around the corner we are hoping it will be a great pre-tournament warm up. The Chestnut Cup has been a great success over the years and has been a great platform for the charity to raise awareness amongst younger men.”

Dan Hart, Argyle Community Trust’s Social Inclusion Manager, has said that “It’s fantastic that we’ll able to combine a great cause with a great story and opportunity for Plymouth. The Mayflower 400 Chestnut Cup will bring together people with a passion for football, in a time in which the World Cup will be creating a real pre-tournament buzz and also a chance for us to raise awareness of the Mayflower commemorations.”

“Hosted at our new Manadon Sports Hub facility, we’re looking to host a superb event with a lot going on, to raise money for the Chestnut Appeal and to raise awareness of Mayflower 400 sport, using the impending World Cup in Russia as the attraction.”

Football teams across the region are being invited to take part in this annual 6 a-side Football event, now in its tenth year. Registration for the Mayflower 400 Chestnut Cup is £60 per team and money raised from the event will go to helping the charity continue its work in the region.

The Tournament is supported by Devon FA and Argyle Community Trust
