Plymouth Breakwater Swim
Aug 16, 2015 at 14:00 — 17:00 (BST)
Organiser: The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health
The Breakwater Swim on Sunday 16th August will be the fourth annual Chestnut Appeal swim across Plymouth Sound. Registration takes place on the Historic Barbican before swimmers are taken out by boat to the Breakwater. When the safety team, are in place the swim commences and some 40 minutes to two hours later swimmers will arrive on shore at Tinside Beach to warm applause and warm soup.
The swim is 2.2miles / 4km so all those taking part will need to have experience of open water swimming and should be able to complete around 160 lengths of a 25m pool.
Safety is provided by the team from Event Water Safety who will provide all the necessary craft and expert cover for the event.
Registration for the swim is £35 and we ask that those taking part try to raise a minimum of £80 through sponsorship for the Chestnut Appeal.
The entry fee covers the cost of organising the event and all those taking part will receive an event t-shirt, swim cap and medal on completion.
This is going to be another great event for Plymouth and it is hoped that it will help raise lots of funds for the Chestnut Appeal as well as raising awareness of prostate cancer across the region.
