The UK Legal System Explained for Non-Lawyer Mediators

This one day programme has been designed to help non-lawyer mediators understand the UK legal system more clearly. The course is led by experienced Clerksroom mediator Nigel Frost, Consultant Lawyer at Keystone Law.

Nigel will cover:

  • The mechanics of the Civil Justice system and the place of mediation within it

  • Mediation Case Law

  • Legal jargon and terminology that mediators will encounter

  • Tomlin orders and other relevant orders of the court

  • The relationships between solicitors, barristers and mediators

  • How solicitors decide whether to refer a case to mediation

This programme is worth 7 CMC CPD points.

Your Trainer
Nigel Frost is Consultant Lawyer at Keystone Law and a highly experienced civil and commercial mediator with Clerksroom. Nigel is an established Elite Mediator and Business and Property Court Lawyer. He heads Dispute Resolution, Construction and Insolvency Department working daily with ADR and the Court System. Nigel mediates extensively, with a very high success rate and has the Experience to open doors to settlement and deal robustly with life changing cases.
