Plymouth Drakes Island Swim 2018

The third annual Chestnut Appeal Drakes Island swim will take place on Sunday 1st July with a swim time of 08.00.

we have a handful of places left - so sign up Today

Last year’s swim saw over 100 participants set off from the beach at Firestone Bay with the swim to Drakes Island taking place in good sea conditions in the shelter of the Bay.

David Squires from the Chestnut Appeal said “It’s a great swim for anyone new to an organised Open Water Swim.  We have had swimmers of all abilities and ages have ranged from 74 to 13”.

Registration for the swim is £30. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it’s the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families across Devon and Cornwall.

So we ask all our Drakes Island swimmers set themselves a Sponsorship target of at least £75.

The last two Drakes Island swims have raised over £15,000 for the Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health an amount that helped the charity provide the very latest in equipment for faster diagnosis of prostate cancer now in place at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The Chestnut Appeal hope with the support of the public to install others in Torbay and Truro.
