Drakes Island Swim 2021

Jul 25, 2021 at 06:00 — 11:00 (BST)
Organiser: The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health

The Chestnut Appeal Drakes Island swim will take place on Sunday 25th July with a swim time of around 07.30am

Participants will set off from the beach at Firestone Bay with the swim to Drakes Island and back taking place in the shelter of the Bay.

Situated in Plymouth Sound, this 6.5 acre Island has been home to a military fortification since the time of the Tudors. Today the Island is in private hands.

It’s a great swim for anyone new to an organised Open Water Swim at around 1.5km in distance.  All participants should be able to swim the distance in a pool, have experience of swimming in Open Water and in varying sea conditions.

Registration for the 2021 Drakes Island Swim is £35. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it’s the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families across Devon and Cornwall.

So we ask all our swimmers set themselves a Sponsorship target of at least £50.

Your £35 registration includes

  • Water Safety Cover
  • Event swim cap
  • Full lifeguard and medical support
  • An event medal
