Peer Support in the Community Launch Event - 17 June 2019

Jun 17, 2019 at 09:45 — 15:00 (BST)

Join us for the launch of Flintshire and Wrexham’s Peer Support Hub.

Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other, either one to one, online or in a group. It may involve activities like crafts, walking or meeting for coffee.  North East Wales Mind has been successful in bidding for money to support people in our community who are offering mental health focussed peer support. The goal is to improve the wellbeing of people who experience mental health problems by increasing their access to peer support in the community. The Peer Support Hub is a key means to achieving this, through networking and capacity-building with local individuals, groups and organisations.

This event is for you if:

  • You’re involved a community group that provides peer support for people with mental health problems
  • You’d like to set up a mental health focussed peer support group
  • You’re part of an organisation that wants to support people to run a peer support group.

Find out more about how we can help you to help other through:

  • Advice and support
  • Seedcorn funding
  • Training
  • Networking events

The day will consist of a range of workshops regarding peer support as well as community based organisations sharing how they use peer support.  There will be time for networking as well as a chance to take part in wellbeing activities.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing our experiences on the day.
