Launch of the second issue of the Plymouth White Papers

Apr 4, 2019 at 18:00 — 21:00 (BST)
Organiser: Luke Pollard MP

Hello #Plymouth - I am hosting a launch event for the next issue of the Plymouth White Papers.

The latest issue will be published online and in print - featuring 10 essays from across Plymouth’s marine sectors in support of our campaign to designate Plymouth as the UK’s first National Marine Park.

When I was elected I said I would do politics differently and the white papers is one such difference. I use them to give a platform to Plymouth’s superb experts and innovators on key issues affecting our city when the intent to inspire, provoke and challenge.

I am delighted that Nicola Bridge Head of Conservation Education at the NMA, along with South West Water’s Managing Director, Dr Stephen Bird and Cllr Pam Buchan Marine, Social Science Researcher will be joining me on the panel to discuss their contributions to the white paper. A short agenda is below:

  • 6pm – Arrivals and refreshments
  • 6.30pm – Welcome from Luke Pollard MP
  • 6.40pm – Remarks from Plymouth Beach Clean – Oleta Forde
  • 7.00pm – panel chaired by Luke Pollard MP
  • 8-9pm – Refreshments

This is a free and open event but we only have a limited numbers of seats. Please remember to bring your ticket with you.

More information on the Plymouth White Papers and the full list of contributors to the second issue can be found here. The first issue, Ambition covered Plymouth’s future connectivity, women in politics, STEM, the environment and the role of community activism in the city. Please have a read.

Plymouth is at the forefront of the marine debate. The campaign to designate Plymouth Sound as the UK’s first National Marine Park is really motoring and new investments are being made in our marine engineering. This second edition of my white paper series seeks to discuss how we develop even further and faster.

This launch event and the publication of this issue of the Plymouth White Papers are sponsored by Pennon Group, featuring an article from their Chief Executive, Chris Loughlin and I am grateful for their support. I hope to see you there.

Thanks,

Luke Pollard MP
