DESCRIPTION

Dr. John Markowitz will briefly review the principles of IPT for depression, then explain their adaptation for and efficacy in treating chronic posttraumatic stress disorder.

ABOUT THE LECTURER

John C. Markowitz, M.D. is Vice-President of International Society for Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University, and a Research Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute in New York. He was trained in IPT by the late Dr. Gerald L. Klerman, M.D. Dr. Markowitz conducts comparative treatment research, studying the benefits of psychotherapies and medications for people with depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and personality disorders. Dr. Markowitz has expertise in delivering many of these treatments, particularly psychotherapies such as Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for depression and PTSD.
