Attracting and Retaining Talent in a post-Brexit world

Jun 15, 2018 at 09:30 — 13:30 (BST)
Organiser: South West Business Council

One year on from a very successful 'Attracting and Retaining Talent' conference at the University of Plymouth, we're delighted to announce that our next conference will return to the same venue, and seek to pick up and progress various themes and issues previously identified.

We're delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be Tom Marks, Vodafone South West. He will highlight Vodafone's approach to the attraction and retention of talent, particularly from a national and international perspective. He'll address the following key areas:

  • The impact of changing technology on the skills and education required, now and in the future, plus the respective roles of FE, HE and in-company training and development.
  • The changing job market, especially in the digital world, and how this impacts on regional employment opportunities
  • The importance of inter-regional partnerships in employment and skills development and the role of large corporates

This conference will also seek to address themes of diversity and inclusion, and highlight opportunities for a range of different stakeholders to come together to meet future challenges.

We'll hear about some company specific approaches (Stephens Scown is one of the leading law firms in the South West and features in the Sunday Times 'Top 100 best companies to work for'), plus the latest views and initiatives from one of the region's leading academic institutions (the University of Plymouth) who, along with other speakers, will reveal some practical solutions to help strengthen our regional economy.
