As always, our goal is to provide simple ticketing with none of the rubbish that other platforms force users to deal with. Part of providing better ticketing for organisers and guests alike, is being transparent. So, in another edition of ‘Frequently Asked Questions’, we’ve taken the most asked questions about booking fees from Ask The Public and we’re going to answer them!

Why do booking fees exist?
Booking fees exist to cover the costs involved with providing a ticketing platform. Other than the cost of developing and providing the platform, booking fees also cover costs that are external, like card processing.

Here at Helm, all our transactions go through Stripe. Stripe is a super-secure online payment system, meaning your data is looked after properly. Stripe payment processing is streamlined and provides organisers and ticket buyers with a better online payment experience.


Why are booking fees so high?

We can’t speak for other ticketing platforms…but we can speak about them! We agree. It’s been well documented that booking fees for online ticketing are incredibly high and often hidden amongst small print!

At Helm Tickets, we pride ourselves on providing incredibly competitive pricing compared to industry leaders and often organisers have found themselves saving loads of money with us.

Now, in an unexpected turn of events, we have a question for other ticketing platforms…

Why do you charge customers a delivery fee for e-tickets or even those printed at home?

No reason? Thought as much.

 

Are booking fees refundable?
With Helm Tickets, yes! If your ticket has been refunded, you’ll also be refunded your booking fee. Why should we keep hold of your cash if you didn’t get what you paid for? But, we can’t say the same for other ticketing platforms…

Here at Helm Tickets, we’re on a mission to provide simple, feature rich ticketing for event organisers. Part of making ticketing simple is making sure no question goes unanswered! So, we’ve compiled some of the most asked questions around e-ticketing from the fantastic resource Answer The Public

What does an e-ticket look like?
Below is an example of how our tickets look. The ticket is safely stored on the buyer’s Helm Tickets account and is available for download immediately after purchase. The buyer will also receive an email soon after purchase, confirming the order and linking them to the download page. Simply download the PDF, print and you’re on your way! 

Because every ticket we distribute comes with a unique QR code, tickets can even be downloaded to a mobile device and scanned on entry. Which leads us nicely to our next question…


How do mobile tickets work?
Hopefully, we’ve already sort of answered this but just to be clear. E-ticketing is so much easier than buying or selling physical tickets. There are no costs associated with printing and delivery and it means all tickets are secured through each buyer’s personal account.

Plus, e-ticketing is great for combatting ticket reselling. If you’re running an event and are concerned about touts selling your tickets on for profit, confirm the identities of ticket buyers through the e-ticketing process. Ask for personal details and compare who turns up at the gate to what is on their ticket!

You don’t even have to read tickets on the door, simply download our ticket scanning app and scan away!

Why use e-ticketing?
We could obviously go on all day about the benefits of e-ticketing! Put simply, e-ticketing saves time and money by cutting out the process of printing and delivering tickets as well as being more flexible than selling tickets over the phone, email or in person. Plus, as mentioned before, e-tickets are far more secure than paper tickets.

One of our most popular features is one that saves event organisers tons of time – additional ticket options! Do you need to know dietary requirements or accessibility information? Ask at the checkout and download the data in a simple file!

 

Are e-tickets refundable?
Functionally, yes but the practical answer? It depends. On many ticketing platforms, there isn’t an option to get a refund, unless the event is cancelled. In some cases, even when the ticket price is refunded you might still be charged the booking fees. It can also depend on whether or not the event organiser allows refunds.
